Project Description: MSI contracted VTT to carry out the Identifying Barriers to Reading in Pakistan project funded by USAID. The objective of the assignment was to understand better ways to strengthen the culture of reading in Pakistan. Through IBRP, USAID/Pakistan intended to identify barriers to reading beyond the primary school walls. The IBRP study aimed to identify potential areas that could be strengthened to develop reading skills and habits in public across different regions, gender, age, and ethnicities. VTT scientifically explored and assessed barriers to the culture of reading in Pakistan. The study used a mixed-method design, including focus group discussions (FGDs) and a short survey of each FGD participant.
